Indian tribe “Whitefish Lake First Nation in Ontario, sued the federal government and the Ontario government to demand his right to a mining and land in the region.
The lawsuit states that the federal government and Ontario use the incorrect data study conducted in 1885, which established the boundaries of the reservation tribe in such a way as to cut off the Indians from the fossil-rich land around Sudbury (copper-nickel deposits and one of the richest ore courses in the world, located in the west of Ontario).
Aaron Detlor, the lawyer who defends the interests of the tribe, said that the claim will be withdrawn in the event of a financial agreement with mining companies and the government over rights to natural resources in the region.
According to the 2001 census, the tribe counts 335 members. His elders, in turn, say about 800 tribesmen, said the agency United Press International.
