Tula Central Court admitted the ex-mayor of Alexander Prokopuka guilty of embezzling 30 million rubles and sentenced him to seven years in prison and a fine of 1 million rubles. This was reported by TASS in the management of the Judicial Department of the Tula area.

“The court sentenced him to a seven years in prison and a fine of 1 million rubles In addition, it is prohibited for three years to assume leadership positions.”, - Said the representative of management, adding that the sentence of ex-mayor will be accepted from 19 December 2014.

According to investigators, Prokopuk, as director of “Spetsavtohozyaystvo”, from 3 February 2011 to 11 December 2012 to make the documents requested on the implementation of the work on the landfill of municipal solid waste in Tula with deliberately false information about the technique used, and the amount of work performed. As a result, “Spetsavtohozyaystvo” transferred to the contractor about 30 million rubles, which were subsequently stolen.

The case against Prokopuka was initiated in July 2014. The investigation has established the involvement in the crime, deputy director of the municipal public enterprise “Spetsavtohozyaystvo” Alexander Zhiltsov. The court found Zhiltsova guilty of aiding and abetting in the commission of embezzlement and sentenced him to five years in prison and a fine of 1 million rubles, and also banned him three years to assume leadership positions. The term, as well as the ex-mayor, will be accepted from December 19, 2014.

With the third defendant in the case was concluded pre-trial agreement on cooperation, the case against him has been allocated in a separate proceeding. He was found guilty of three counts of complicity to embezzlement and sentenced to four years probation and a fine of 2 million rubles.

Prokopuk was elected head of Tula December 19, 2012. Prior to that, since 2003, led by the municipal enterprise “Spetsavtohozyaystvo”, is responsible for the sanitary condition in Tula. In July 2014 he announced his resignation.
